Sue Cripps, Interim CEO, Women’s Community Shelters

Sue Cripps is Interim Chief Executive Officer of Women’s Community Shelters and a highly respected leader in the human services and housing sectors, with more than two decades of experience leading organisations, driving systems change and developing innovative responses to homelessness and domestic and family violence.

Sue joined Women’s Community Shelters in 2019 and has held a number of senior leadership roles, most recently as Director of Housing. She has played a significant role in strengthening and expanding WCS’s housing response, working to develop innovative models of safe and sustainable accommodation for women and children experiencing homelessness and domestic and family violence.

Prior to joining WCS, Sue was the founding CEO of Homelessness NSW and held senior leadership positions across the community and housing sectors. Her extensive experience spans service delivery, sector development, advocacy and systems change. In 2011, Sue was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to examine international approaches to strengthening service integration and improving outcomes for people experiencing homelessness.

As Interim CEO, Sue brings deep sector expertise, strong relationships and a longstanding commitment to improving outcomes for women and children. She is focused on building on WCS’s work and impact, working alongside the Shelter Network, partners and communities to strengthen the response to homelessness and domestic and family violence and ensure more women and children can access safety, stability and the opportunity to rebuild their lives.
