Director, Mulga

Shannon Brahim is a Warumungu man living and working on Larrakia Country, with extensive experience across community safety, youth engagement, training, research and advocacy. Over the past two decades, he has worked alongside Indigenous young people, adults, families and communities across the Northern Territory, supporting initiatives that strengthen wellbeing, cultural connection and community-led solutions.

His work spans community outreach, mentoring, workforce development, program design, research and consultation, with a strong focus on creating culturally safe spaces and opportunities for Indigenous people to thrive. He is also an author, using storytelling as a way to celebrate culture, identity and connection to Country. Following his involvement in the Royal Commission into the Protection and Detention of Children in the Northern Territory, Shannon was inspired to establish Mulga, an Indigenous-owned organisation grounded in relationships, respect and prevention. Through his leadership, Mulga works alongside communities to deliver practical, culturally informed approaches to safety, engagement and positive social outcomes.
