Mark Samec brings experience spanning mental health, disability, homelessness, and community services. As the current lead of the Living Skills Project at the Mental Health Association of Central Australia (MHACA), he designs and implements culturally responsive, trauma-informed programs that foster housing stability, wellbeing, and active community participation. MHACA, based in Alice Springs/Mparntwe, is a community-managed organisation offering psychosocial support, suicide prevention, and health promotion initiatives.
Mark has held both leadership and frontline roles, and is deeply committed to amplifying the voices of people with lived experience. Mark’s practice is grounded in contemporary social work and disability frameworks, informed by his Master of Social Work and Master of Disability Policy and Practice. He advocates for social justice, evidence-informed practice, and collaborative approaches to strengthen communities and improve outcomes.
