Marketing and Events Specialist, Link Wentworth

Sharyne Jewell has worked across housing and homelessness for 30 years and is a passionate advocate for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Throughout her career, she has focused on strengthening partnerships between housing, health and community services to improve access, inclusion and outcomes for vulnerable people and communities.

Sharyne’s current focus includes Link Wentworth’s partnerships with Western Sydney University’s Medicine in Context (MiC) program and Drop-in Doc health service, initiatives that strengthen access to health care while building understanding of homelessness and its impacts.

The MiC program provides medical students with immersive, community-based learning that deepens understanding of homelessness, social determinants of health and trauma-informed care through direct engagement with clients, whilst Drop-in Doc is a weekly community health clinic for vulnerable people, delivered with Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network and Octa Medical, offering GP, nursing and support services without requiring a Medicare card, ID or proof of citizenship.
