Gayle Mitchell is an experienced and committed leader across community services and the public sector, with more than 20 years’ experience delivering outcomes for vulnerable communities. As Executive Director of the Office of Homelessness within the Department of Communities, she brings a strong track record in strategic leadership, operational delivery, and stakeholder engagement, with a particular focus on homelessness and youth services.

Gayle is recognised for her values-driven leadership, grounded in respect, courage and transparency. She is passionate about fostering inclusive and compassionate communities through innovative service delivery, strong governance, and evidence-based practice.

Prior to joining the public sector, Gayle held senior roles within the community services sector across metropolitan Perth and the Pilbara, leading homelessness and youth programs, managing complex partnerships, and delivering impactful initiatives.
